Upon receiving a marigold at the Mexican Days of the Dead exhibit at the Gardiner Museum:

When have I ever held a marigold in the cold wind? I hang to its pylon orange, a ball of pollen and wilt. It's crushed by the fabric of my grey gloves -- against wool; almost glowing.
