palazzo pants

So Jocey and I were taking a stroll Friday afternoon complaining about how last summer we were thinner, and the comfort of palazzo pants surfaced. If anyone doesn't know what palazzo pants are, they are wide-legged pants that were very hot in the early nineties. Usually, they came in floral patterns with matching vests. Around the time of the palazzo pant - boom, i was twelve and had this really cool pair that were black and white checkers with suspenders (i will try and find a picture of them). I used to wear them with a Blossom hat (another 90s trend I'm sure I'll devout a posting to in the near future). For full history go here.

Anyhow, I mentioned how palazzo pants would be key at this time of extra weight and hotter temperatures because of their airiness and loose-fit. Jocey grew up in Texas, and so she had no idea what palazzo pants were. I was shocked. I further explained that palazzo pants were to be worn on "fancy" occasions, and you could even get a palazzo pant suit -- like a catsuit but less hot. Recently, Katie Holmes has been pictured as wearing a plaid pair of pants in the palazzo style. Will they return?

My goal is to find an original sweet 90s pair. Perhaps it can be pulled off again. I suggested I have a palazzo pants party for my birthday. Everyone can wear a pair of palazzo pants (even the boys), drink root beer, and do the running man to Black Box jams.
