I'll have to read the book, see if the writing is good, and determine whether I should appreciate this multimillion dollar franchise or just laugh at it. I'm actually on the fence, and can't really form an opinion.
Update: I read the book and although it held my attention throughout, I think the movie is infinitely better. One, Edward doesn't talk down, baby, or intimidate Bella as much (he is actually quite a dick in the book). She is a stronger character on screen. Second, the love story is more mature, not just the result of biological make-up, but a soul-filled one; makes you envious when you get passed the fact that it is a teenage romance about vampires. I will never read another book by Stephanie Meyer. But, I'll watch the next film.18.1.09
Grilled-cheese
I've seen Twilight. Yes, illegally I watched it on a streaming site the other day. It is grilled-cheese (warm, and gooey) but I think the real reason I like it is this British-born. It's not often that I think the young ones are hot (I think he's about 20) -- I have a penchant for older men -- but Robert Pattinson is looking good in Rollingstone mag (left) and as a vampire (ha!).
